The Kitchen is a unique catering and cafe restaurant located in the heart of beautiful Meaford on the main street. All the food offered at The Kitchen is locally sourced, homemade and fresh! The menus are catered and specialized to the particular seasons, so whatever food items that are locally in season will be included on the menu. A variety of options are offered for all diet types and preferences, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free alternatives. In terms of the catering aspect, The Kitchen offers services in the Grey Bruce and surrounding areas for all possible occasions including weddings, birthdays, and small or large parties. The amazing part about their catering services is customers can order any dish and customize how they want the dish to be made. They also offer the decision for their foods to be made with the customers’ pans, enabling them to easily have leftovers or be served in their own dishes in their home. Every catering experience includes in house service with full cleaning to the kitchen or other designated space. The staff are incredibly detailed oriented when it comes to going into customers’ homes, aiming to give an unforgettable experience for all the guests. Oftentimes customers have commented that the catering staff have left their place better then they found it. 

Her Story

Megan has always had a passion for customer service and the hospitality industry, specifically for preparation of good food and the people she would meet. For the past 15 years, she has worked in the cafe acquiring extensive front of house and customer service experience. The previous owner (Christine), was her primary mentor and provided her with all the skills necessary to efficiently run The Kitchen in all aspects. Megan took ownership of the restaurant approximately one year ago, and has made huge steps forward in the business through the marketing and branding strategy. Their social media and official website have been completely rebuilt to showcase their brand and services more effectively while also being more user friendly. In addition, she is exploring the further expansion of frozen meal alternatives to include more variety of vegan and gluten free foods to the menu. 

 

Unique Facts About the Business 

Not only is this a wonderful cafe that is open for lunches and other delicious treats during the day, but it also provides in-house dinners that are customizable for private parties. The restaurant will close the space for the reserved time frame, using elaborate decorations for any occasion. These in-house dinners can be booked in advance, and can accommodate large or small groups of people that start from 5 P.M onwards.

As Megan gained experience working for The Kitchen, she was able to develop close-knit relationships with many of her regular clients, and has seen them grow and evolve over the years. Megan highlights the fact that all the people who have walked through the doors of the restaurant have left a unique mark on her that will last a lifetime. Some of her most memorable moments include elaborate weddings, delivering breakfast to a peaceful yoga retreat, and providing catering for the renowned Meaford Hall. Customers have also commented on the delicious food that The Kitchen offers, emphasizing the simplicity of the presentation yet amazing taste of all the options offered.

Megan was lucky enough to grow up in this beautiful small town and watch all of those in the community grow with her. She reiterates the fact that everyone is extremely supportive of one another (particularly in local businesses), and help each other in every way possible to keep the community running smoothly. She enjoys all seasons for the many available activities and the beautiful scenery. During the summer months, she enjoys doing activities like golfing at Lora Bay, visiting the pristine local beaches, and visiting her cottage in the Muskoka region. In the winter she enjoys snowshoeing and visiting the village in the Blue Mountains. Some of her favourite restaurants to eat at in the area include; Teds Road Range Dinner, Andrews Roots, KJs Kitchen, The Corner and Bridges.
